Team Saxo Bank’s just 25-year-old Manuele Boaro made an excellent single start on today’s seventh, last and just 9, 3 kilometer stage of Tirreno-Adriatico in San Benedetto del Tronto, where the advance favorite , Fabian Cancellara (Radioshack-Nissan) took an expected stage victory time 10 minutes and 36 seconds.
Team Saxo Bank’s young Italian drove just 16 seconds slower than the stage winner and within the same second as number three and four. The result brought joy to both sports director Fabrizio Guidi and of course Boaro himself:
“It is a great result for me to be five on a single start with the big names on the starting list, and am therefore happy to be able to be at the very top and top of the line on home soil. Now I look forward to Milan-Sanremo this weekend.
